Rod transport care question

Rate this topic

6 posts in this topic

Hi, a simple question........I have a few inexpensive 2 piece rods and when I travel dont think twice about rubberbanding or strapping the pieces together. Now that I have a rod I really care about (a 2 piece Lamiglas 120M) I dont want to do that. Is there some spacer type thing that can go between the two parts before securing them together?

For air travel I'll get a hard case but I'm talking more about putting it in my rackless car, or on my homeade bicycle rod rack, etc.

Thanks

Peter G

Because of the size/height of the guides, you'll prolly have to have a sock made to fit the rod. Buy enough material and have two made because you are guaranteed to lose one.

For a simple solution, I use pipe insulation, it comes in about 4' sections, its got a slit in it. Cut about 3 - 6" pieces put them on the rod and I use a velcro thing to hold the rod sections together. With the pipe insulation the section of the rod never touch.
