Extra Stripper Guide

Al-

I was talking with one of the builders at Allentown last week and he recommended putting a second stripper guide 3-4" ahead of a noemally spaced first one. Said it knocked down the line and made for better hauls and longer casts. Guess it makes sense, but then why don't we see it on more rods? Your thoughts?

Alby,

It was good to meet you at the seminar.

That's a trade secret. I do it on all the saltwater fly rods I build.

The guide goes 4-inches in front of the stripper toward the tip. it is the same size as the next guide from the stripper.

If you looked in my photo album at the seminar there were pictures of Alberto and the fly rod I built him. If you looked closely you could see the second stripper guide.
