Lami AR 116M

I think I can pick a used custom for about $70. 11'6", 15# to 30# line, 2 to 5 oz lure. It's got the foam grips, which I hate, but other than that it looks to be in very good shape.

I know nothing about this stick. Is it a plugger or is it too heavy - basicly just a bait rod?

A better question is, is this a deal I shouldn't pass up??

That's an older Lami blank code---that rod has to be at least 20 years old and probably older. But E-glass Lami's are very durable, and the price is ballpark for a used Lami glass rod.

There's one number missing from the blank code, and it's the most important one. The one that tells you the power of the blank. If it is rated for 2-5 oz, it's the modern-day SB 136 2F blank, which I believe was called the 1164 back in the old days. It's a fine plugging blank, probably the best fiberglass one you can get.

Suds,

That is the same rod I have, and makes an outstanding rod for pencil poppers 2oz+, and other large lures. It's not and all day rod. Great for Montauk and the Cape beaches.
