Alconite

After doing a search on this board and others, I have not seen any conclusive opinions or observations on Alconite guides.

I have read that they are not as durable as Hardloy or SIC.

Is it the ring or the body of the guide that is not as durable?

Or is it the single foot that is not as durable as double foot?

Since these guides have been around for some time now, I was hoping to open up this topic again for discussion.

Thanks

Q,

Right now the jury is still out on this subject. Since durability for me is my prime concern in saltwater applications I will continue to stick with SIC and Hardaloy.

Q - I have them on one rod, the silver ones, and I have 2 sets waiting to go on 2 other rods. The frame of these guides is thinner than the SIC and Hardaloy guides - at least from the guides I have.

I do not fish nearly enough to give a recommendation as to how durable, etc - but I like how they look, they are light compared to Hardaloy, and cost about the same.
