cork tape over EVA?

Rate this topic

Al: I have an older Fenwick rod that has EVA grips, but I find that the foregrip especially is too narrow and I would like to enlarge the diameter. Rather than stripping the grips and reel seat, I was thinking that I could just tape over the grips with cork tape. Do you think it would hold up, and would you apply any other adhesive other beyond the styicky backing of the cork tape?

Thanks Al.

Peter,

Here is what I would do. I would apply the cork tape the the foregrip and bind down the ends with electrical tape.

Then I would take a piece of heat shrink tubing cut to size and slip it over the foregrip and shrink it to fit.

Hello, Al

Wouldn't it be difficult to hide the seems if the tape is wrapped around something as soft as the EVA grip? The grip usually has some contour to it, which would show them even more????????
