Hey guys, I'm new here and to rod building. I recently was given a rod blank, a 9 ft Rainshadow ASW 1088. What are its specs regarding ounce throwing capacity. Also some pac-bay guides were thrown in, black with grey inserts. I need a matching tip, so what type guides are these, Bt, Bh, Bs?

Fast tapered Graphite blank rated 1-4oz. Has a sweet spot between 2.5 and 3oz. Nice blank for tossing metal and poppers. I'd toss he PacBays and stop at your local shop for a set of Fuji guides. Not sure how your setting it up, (conventional or spinning),so take it with you when you go to the shop and they can set you up with all your guides, reel seat, cork, and thread.

Good luck..and welcome to the maddness...

There are times when free isn't a bargian---and when a shop throws in a set of Pacs for free, that's one of those times biggrin.gif

I think the SW 1088 has a size 8 tip, or maybe a 'tweener between 7 and 8.

Read that again and do not build the rod with pac. bay.

I built a 1087 over the winter, spinning---Nice rod.

Tightlines!
