AnthonyT
Al, This may be nothing, but I don't think so and I need your help... I've taped (masking) my strippers and snake guides to my 8wt 10.5' blank from PacBay. During testing of placement and the additional guide 4" on top of the first stripper. My guides starting from the stripper is 20 16 16 12 -- snake 6 6 6 6 5 5 5 5 tip top. What I've noticed casting the rod is that it doesn't shoot line as well as I would expect given the cast. When I brought the rod home there were rub marks by the feet of the snake guides. Basically three type of rub marks existed: - On the masking tape just entering the snake. - On the masking tape just exiting the snake. - And the cherry is, on the inside of the snake guide nearest the blank especially on the foot towards the top of the rod. Is this a by product of the masking tape and I shouldn't worry about it and the rod will be fine... I don't think so, but you would know better ? Or, is the line getting pinched at the foot, either during casting or hauling ? Thanks in advance, AnthonyT
Al Goldberg
Anthony, The problem is that your snakes are too small. I would only go down to #8 snakes. Also make sure you have a tip with and extra large ring. Your casting distance should improve dramatically. Al
