Position of guides/spine..

I am relatively new to rod building and have several questions maybe some of you could help me with.

What is the correct postion of the guides in relation to the spine on a SURF rod(spinning?)I am somewhat confused at a few different things I have read and heard. Is the correct postion of the guides 180 degrees opposite the spine? I was thinking that this was correct until someone told me for distance the guides should be placed 0 degrees on top of the spine? Someone please help!

Also, I am looking for a good place to buy blanks/building equipment, etc.Any suggestions?

Thanks for you help,

Fireman

Try it both ways--just tape em to your blank & see which works best for you. As to your 2nd question, if there's a rodbuilder shop near you, that's where I'd recommend going. You can learn a TON from watching somebody that's already building rods. wink.gif

If you're like me & there's nobody w/in 150 miles, check out Mudhole & Custom Tackle Supply (do a search on rodbuilding & you'll find the links wink.gif ).

Another good web site for new guys (like me wink.gif ) is rodbuilding.org.
