Favorite Cod Jigging Blank

I've been happily using my cgbt961m cod Rod. It's Al's formula for a cod rod...soft, flexible, but with a lot of backbone...KINDA LIKE AL!! It's great for bait and it's no problem when dropping a jig straight down. The problem is that I can only toss a jig about half the distance that my big meat pole can. I wish that the rod was a little bit beefier, closer to 8 ft, but still with a fast/soft tip and taper. Any thoughts?

Scott,

I accidentally made a great cod jigging/bait rod by shortening a Calstar GFDH800M 8 inches. I was trying to make a good blackfish rod out of it but it became a fabulous cod rod, light and powerful.

I'll check out that Calstar. If it is simply bigger but with the same basic dimensions as the CFX700 (just finished a fluke rod with it -my 2nd rod), I can imagine it would be a great cod rod. Prefessa mentioned a Seeker CSB909 cut to a 14 tip. I'm checking that one out also. Thanks for your help, guys. 'Still going up the learning curve, so your input is quite valuable.
