Al,

I was going through alot of my tackle and found my "old" rods that I used to always use back in the day.

I have a couple 6-6'6" spinning UglySticks from when they had lifetime warranties not the 5 year deal they offer now(approx 12yrs old). They're in good shape and caught lots of fish with them, but are in need of rewrapping. I was wondering if I could have em done as conventionals this time around or if I should just forget about it and donate em somewhere.

I'd appreciate any input you might have.

Mike,

That sounds like a good winter project for you to do. You might even like it and then give me some future competition.

Al

P.S. I will be happy to give you some tips on refinishing.

IMO the rods aren't worth repairing. I think brand new 6.5 foot ugly sticks are less than $40 at Benny's.

Even if you want to build rods , spend the money on a decent blank and guides and seat. You'll be much happier after putting the work into it.

My early experience was that after all the work I was kicking myself in the butt for using an $11 blank! Live and learn. smile.gif
