Securing Trim Wraps

Rate this topic

2 posts in this topic

I will be attempting to but some thin trim wraps of metallic thread on a rod that I am building. I will have to wait a couple of days before applying finish.

I am worried that the wraps may unravel if the rod is inadvertenly disturbed in my absence. Is there a way to secure the trim wraps?

Would color preserver work? If so would just a drop or two on the tie off areas be sufficient?

Thanks in advance.

Tom,

Apply a very thin coat of CP. Just carefully apply it then wick off any excess with a squeezed out brush. Then take a paper towel moistened with alcohol and carefully clean off any CP that is on the blank next to the trim wraps. Then gently hit it with a hair dryer to lock in the threads.
