Hey Al,

I'm out in Montauk and a friend showed me a rod that he inherited. It's a 5'6" Metal rod. The metal is actually step tapered and actully has an acion to it. Have you ever seen this? Any quess how old or if it has any value?

Regards,

Phil

Phil,

Metal rods were common in he 1940's and early 1950's. My dad and I had fencing foil rods that we used for weakfishing in the Peconics when I was a boy.

I wpuld think your friend's rod has some collectors value, but not a great amount.

Hi guys,

I have a metal rod (baitcasting style) with the case. I don't think it has any $$$ value...but it's really old and it does make a great fishing display!
