i spoke with a local rod-builder about making a 9-ft conventional stick to mainly throw herring...no blank jumped out at him as perfect for the job but he did suggest a sb 136 3m with 30" chopped from the butt...anything other suggestions from lami, batson, sabre or allstarconfused.gif ...

thanks

The C.C. Canal Rats use a Lami 121-3M alot with 6-inches cut from the butt. They need alot of backbone in the rod to deal with the strong current in the Ditch.

Where are you fishing?

What line, mono or braid?

Will this be the only use for this rod?

al...it will predominantly throw herring. occasional heavy current but more often not, and i will probably put an abu 6600 with braid on it...

JJ,

Another blank to consider the the BT1083M Lami. Nice medium action for use with braid and has a soft enough tip to lob out herring.

This would be my choice.

Al
