IceRod

I've got a blank that I want to make an ice rod out of.

It's a fiberglass blank 31 inches long with a 3.5 tip. I'm going to match it up with a shimano spirex reel (ST1000FH).

I'm thinking three or four guides here. I'm not sure how large I should go with the first guide and I'm also not sure how fast I should go down.

In other words say I went with four guides.

A 25, 16, 8, 8, and then the tip. Does the last guide need to match the tip ring?

Any thoughts and suggestions are much appreciated!

Tightlines,

You need to go to LARGER sized guides dude. Ice builds up on the real quick unless you are gonna be in a heated sled shack. Your 8 need to be like a 12. All you need is may be 2 guides and the tip for an 3' rod.
