Alconite vs. SiC

With the alconite guides being relatively new on the market, I'm curious as to how they stand up to surf fishing abuse here in the NE. I am using alconites on my first rod, but I'm building a 7' conventional for the back bays. The frames themselves seem lightweight, hence my concern. smile.gif

What is the verdict? I'm planning out a GSB1201L and a CSB1022L to wrap conventional. The guides (combined) for these two are about $80 for the sic and $60. I don't mind the extra $$$ if it will mean a better rod in the long run, but would like some feedback on the cost vs. utility between these two. If performace is relatively similar, well then.... wink.gif
