Thoughts on the Fall Run

I'm just speaking from personal experience and observations, but one thing that I always notice is that the stripers showing up seem to always coincide with the massive flocks of starlings showing up in jersey. There are always a few early flocks that pass thru (similar to stripers) however it seems that our fall run is always kicked off with the appearance of these birds. The last three days I've seen more and more of these birds and almost most right on queue the northern half of the state and southern tip of the state the bass fishing picked up tremendously and guys are all saying in has begun. I guess I'm in the minority but I'm a 'late run this year' believer. While I think the stripers need some help in terms of a slot/bag limit reduction, I'm not on the stripers are in dire straights and almost extinct bandwagon that I see many people on. Just some food for thought.
