The best thing about this thread is, it's the history of the Modern Pikie. The names of some of today's best builders are scattered throughout. Gary, Talon, Voorhes, Winch, and countless others. Offering thoughts and maybe some prayers. LOL But this is the best thing, and it's what makes SOL such a historical treasure, especially in winter!

Best to all for a happy and safe Thanksgiving.

I bought a couple of pikies on the BST. Seller claimed they were Fixters. I’m not sure if they are or not but I’m not a collector just excited to fish pikies as I’ve been learning about them this year. The two I got are in decent shape but each have some chips that go down to bare wood. I’m not set up to completely sand and repaint them but wondering if I should try to touch them up or at least seal the chips. Thoughts appreciated.

Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails clear nail polish will seal those against water intrusion, leave the color chips alone, that's just good juju, shows the plugs were fished.

I'd say they are real Fixters based on the red glitter covering up the chin weight hole, the eyes, and the hardware. My best guess.

If you want to go a step farther, a clear 2 part epoxy on those spots would work better, up to you.
