swirlchaser
I just started building 2 months ago and a buddy asked me to take a stab at a Pikie. Here's the bowling pin as it sits now, next to a 7" needle.
stripercrazy
swrilchaser, what do you have to cut a lip slot? you'll need to pick a lip to use...that would be a good sized pikie...maybe a #3 pikie lip or a sm moore's or salty's pikie lip. pikies are midslotted follower of rev Darryl Strawberry
swirlchaser
I'm going to cut it with either the bandsaw or a back saw. haven't cut the slope or the slot yet because I still need a lip. It's sort of a side project since I'm addicted to Nike swimmers right now.

swirlchaser
I'll probably end up doing the same. Â I figured a would take the bulk of the slope off with the band saw and just slope it with the drum sander.

Chunkah
I'm gonna get in on this...been wanting to take a stab at a pikie. Probably won't get started for a bit as I'm still chasing fish, but this could be a lot of fun. Â One question...what is the desired action I'm looking for? I have never fished one... Â Thanks
Jig Man
...One question...what is the desired action I'm looking for? I have never fished one... Thanks  Depends some on the builder. Each builder will have a little different idea of what they want. Some do sub surface, most set them up to wake on top. This is one of my 3 oz pikies:    Jigman

I rarely fish anything bigger than an 40jr because I hate having too many hooks. Even 2 trebles and a siwash concern me. A Pikie certainly has a lot of surface area so I get the reasoning for 2 belly hooks. How is his single hook Pikie setup? One hook upfront? Dead center?
