Exposed blank reel seats

I'm building a casting rod for a friend of mine, and he wants it to have an exposed blank reel seat. I was wondering if the I.D. of the reel seat had to be a close to or exact fit to the O.D. of the blank, or if arbors are used like on a normal seat.

The ID needs to be the same as the OD where you want the seat to sit. You can trim a little off of the back end of the grip or the blank to get everything to fit properly. You could also extend the blank slightly.

They are so cheap just order a few different sized to get a tight fit. If you want a neat seat get some 15mm woven graphite tubing, get teh largest ECS seat, instal it on teh tubing, then instal the tubing on teh blank with arbors.
