IBSP Zello App

15 posts in this topic

I know a few dispatchers who told me I’d have to buy a $500 scanner with hundreds of channels just to listen to the two they use at IBSP (1)lifeguard and (2)everyone else.

So do you think the rangers using this app?

The rangers are probably not using this app, you don't need to buy a $500 scanner to listen to them.

So

How can I hear 159.465 pl 179.9    for less than $500?

keep in mind that scanners are illegal in automobiles

only way you would spend $500 is for a digital scanner and even still they are just slightly over $400. I have a Uniden Bearcat 15x and it was $200 and works fine.

regarding the legality of having a scanner in your car;

                                     LEGAL        LEGAL      LEGAL-HAM  LEGAL-HAM-NOVICE

                                     RADAR        MOBILE     MOBILE     MOBILE

UNITED STATES          DETECTORS SCANNERS   SCANNERS   SCANNERS

  ---------------------  ---------              ---------  ---------  ---------

  CONNECTICUT..........YES......         YES......  YES......  .........

  DELAWARE.............  YES......         YES......  YES......  .........

NEW JERSEY...........  YES......         YES......  YES......  YES......

NEW YORK.............  NO.......          NO.......  YES......  .........

  PENNSYLVANIA.........  YES......       YES......  YES......  .........

So I spoke with someone at work who told me IBSP has four channels, like most state parks.

A. state park police (to talk to trenton dispatch HQ)

B. state park police (to talk to each other and front gate house)

C. maintenance workers and park rangers

D. Lifeguards

I'd like to hear just the park rangers; when the gate is closed due to over crowding, bathrooms are broken at bathing beach one or two, some one is stuck and blocking access at A9 or the end.

Don't have any interest in listing to the Park Police as they catch speeders and arrest drunks

I can see IBSP from my window, but its a 30 mile drive to get there.

So I can find model BCT15X 5000-channles (trunktracker) new for $250 used $160, then I would need an antenna and speaker.

Could I use a handheld like the BC75XLT 300-channles? There less than a $100 Or am I just fooling myself and I need a real antenna mounted on the roof

Nope a handheld one will work fine since your that close and the anttena that comes with it will be fine. The built in speakers are loud enough you shouldnt need an external one.
