Hi Al,

On the thread about the XRA1205 , both you and ron recommend going down to size 10 guides but then a 12 tip. Why have the tip bigger than the smallest guides?

Salt,

You are correct. My error. The last two guides should match the ring size of the tip top.

The XRA1205 has a #12 tip tube size with a #12 ring, therefore the guides se5t up for casting should only go down to #12.

Setting this rod up as a conventional I would use HNSG's as follows:

20, 16, 16, and 12's out (approximately 6#12)

and the UST tip.

Thanks for the catch,

Al

P.S. I just came up from the shop after finishing the wraps on a 1321 spinning and a 1322 conventional. This was a non fishing weekend.

I was home recovering from a chest cold. I did get to really bend the rod the previous weekend in Montauk and will be out there again soon. Howver, I am going through withdrawal pains having 90% saltwater in my veins.
