RS 1087 Guide spacing

I am building a 9' Rainshadow 1087 spinner. This is my 2nd rod and first as a spinner. I am looking for some confirmation on whether or not I am on the right track with my guides.

My guides are BSVLG Hardloys, sizes are 40, 30, 20, 16, 12 and a 12 sic Tip. I taped on the guides and test casted this morning and felt like the 40 stripper guide at 36" from the center of the reel seat was about right. Does this sound reasonable to you more experienced builders? The rest of the guides would be placed accordingly after a stress distribution.

Lastly, test casting was performed with the reel spooled with 17 lb mono, but it will eventually be fished with braid. Does the low memory of braid make it more or less likely to cause line slap on the rod?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

hi springer

what reel you using on it?a mid-size skirted spool i'm guessing

with braid you may want to try the smaller

guides, and maybe go to the 30HH,you will be

suprised at the results

i do that blank with 40HH,30,25,16,12 but with the braid try the 30HH

i've also been going with sic gathering guide

and tip lately on my own and have noticed a

difference in the casting distances

yours would be 30HH,30,25,16,12

test cast and let us know what you end up with
