hi, this will be my first rod building project, so i will probably have more questions as i get further into it, but ill start with the first thing i need to know so i can order my parts.

i will be getting a CGBT841ML and planned on building it to match an Avet sx.

is this a good match? what have others put on that blank? what color is the blank? any tips or suggestions?

This is a great blank, very versitile. Color is Graphite gret in the butt section, and E-Glass black in the tip. This rod is capable of holding with 12oz (max), and is a great deep water Fluke blank, which will also work well in the Bay since it's not heavy at all.

I modified one of my ML's and it is the Perfect Blackfish rod.

Billy,

Do you think that my mislabled CGBT841M is actually an ML? It would seem so to me, though I'm no expert.

nycman,

If it is then I have a Penn 975 on it and it seems to be a perfect fit.

thanks for the advice. after reading some so-so things about avet (and i have a 975 i need a home for) i think im gonna wait and build this for the 975.

thinking of using GNLG guides and a GPST top

and spiral wrapping. billy, i know you have some knowledge of both this blank and spiral wrapping. any advice in that area?
