Tungsten carbide rod tip

Found an old rod that I want to rebuild. It has metal guides with a tungsten carbide tip. Will that material tolerate Spectra type lines until I can get the new guides and tip on?

Santiago,

Carefully inspect the ring on the tip to see if there are any rough spots or pitting. This could damage the line.

If the ring is okay then it should stand up to spectra line. When you replace the guides and tip either the Fuji hardaloy or SIC guides will be fine. I would, however, use an SIC tip.

S:

Check the welds also. I had a few NEW carbide tip tops that the rings popped off because the welds were poor. The Mfg replaced at no charge but I switched to the Fuji SIC boat tops

Al is right. The Fuji SIC boat tops with 12mm ring are great.
