Help with metallic underwrap

Trying to use a green varigated metallic nylon under wrap on a dark gray/black lamiglass blank. The thread is Rice brand. When I apply flex coat CP the color becomes very dark and dries dark - almost black. What's the problem? What's the fix. Thanks in advance.

My guess is that the thread is not a true metallic and is not opaque so you are getting bleedthrough from the dark blank.

You have two options if you want to use this thread for the underwrap:

Option 1 - use white ceiling paint to cover the area of the underwrap on the blank. Apply two thin coats and let it dry for several days before wrapping on the underwap. Then seal the underwrap with Gudebrod 811 sealant and apply a then coat of finish.

Option 2 - First underwrap with size C white NCP thread. Color seal with 811 and apply a then coat of finish. Let it cure for three days and wrap on other underwrap. Seal and finish that and wait three days before starting your guidewraps.
