Just getting back into redoing my 11 1/2 ,1 pc. Lami-3m. what I would like to know is (will be using cork tape on butt end) ,How much better are the "wrap on's " now than they were 15 yrs. ago ? And what are some of your suggestions on wrapping this seat on.

My friend had several plate seats on his surf rods... Hates them as they do not hold the reel totally still. There is a bit of wobble in the system. We've wrapped them on, taped them on and Ive even made a shim to fit the curve of the blank and the seat. Still not perfect.

I go with bicycle inner tube for wrapping the reel on. Slice the tube to a reasonable length 36" or so and slit open. Cut a strip about 1" or slightly larger. Wrap the reel on as if you were using tape, but strrech the tube nice and tight. Tuck the end under one of your wraps and you are all set. Good grip and feels warmer in the hand than a reel seat or the reel foot. Especially on those 30 degree mornings.
