coating a painted blank

I stripped a rod to the fiberglass.I want to rebuild to a conventional and I have to repaint.Would it be a good or bad idea to coat the painted blank with the same epoxy coating that the guide wraps are done with?

I have coated lures and a test piece with it and they look good but will it last?

Mike,

That would work. However, a better idea is to use an outdoor polyurethane spray or boat hull paint.

Spray it on with multiple thin coats and rub it down with a finishing pad between coats.

Wait a week for the finish to fully cure before starting the wrapping.

I leave the painting to professionals. Got a friend who works in an auto body shop. Uses automotive base coat + clear coat system with 15% flex additive( used for bumpers and flexible parts). Very durable, very beautiful. My $.02 worth
