You might want to use rod tip glue stick rather than permanent epoxy.

 

Later if you need to replace the guide again, just remove the finish and the wrap then heat the guide, which will melt the glue and you can easily remove the damaged guide. If the guide is permanently epoxied in place you will have to chop off part of the tip to make the replacement.

My experience has been that the 5 min epoxy is way better than the hot melt. had lots of hot melt tips come loose but never one done with epoxy. You can get the old tip off by applying some heat , just like you would with hot melt. be sure to get the epoxy on both surfaces , the rod blank and inside the tip , then join. I use a toothpick to drip some epoxy inside the tip tube and swirl it around to make sure the entire inside surface is wet. You will get a much better bond that way.
