colored blanks

Thanks for your help on working with white thread.

Now for the real cheesy part!

Do you know where I can get a marine blue blank? (like the color of blue bottom paint)

I guess I should explain: My brother-in-law has recently purchased a new boat, and I wanted to build him a spinning rod that he can leave on the boat. As he will not be fishing unless, by some freak accident, he runs through acres of fish busting on the surface.

The rod will most likely be hanging from the rod rack in the berth. Needless to say any blue blank will do - it is the aesthetics I'm after here performance is not critical.

If you don't know of any blue (or white) blanks, would you suggest maybe a red blank that I can put white underwraps on and blue overwraps.

I think I'll add a few of those nude mermaid stickers...

Just wrap the blank with size A thread in the color desired and givew it two thin coats of color sealant and two thin coats of finish. Let the rod rest for three days before starting your guide wraps.

Charlie,

I only do this with the heavier blanks like boat blanks and heavier surf blanks. It is not good to do this with the lighter blanks.
