?Burnt Out Rod Wrapping Motor?

Rate this topic

4 posts in this topic

I fried the sewing machine motor I was using as a power wrapper yesterday. It was kinda cool actually sparks flew and everything.

Needless to say I need to replace it.

I've noticed a huge difference in some of the prices out there. Are the ones offered by the rod building companies the same?

Much thanks---Stroth

I've got a Zote motor here (new),

7000 RPM

100 watt

1 amp

110 volt

Foot pedal

Has pulley on the shaft

And a belt.

I can take a photo & post it if ya need to see it.

$20 plus about $6 to ship if ya want it.

I do not understand Volts and Amps and how it relates to HP. MOst motors used for Rod Wrappers are either 1/10 or 1/15HP. Dayton sells these motors, and they do cost a bit. I bought 3 of them off EBAY early this year, 2 used ($3 & $7), one new ($12), + shipping on each. THat was still less than half the price of a brand new one. THe new one is fine, one other one is OK, and one sucks.

I would do a little more research on what Ed is offering and get that rather than buy one off EBAY or one new for like $90+. After all, it's only $20 and comes with a foot pedal, you can't lose.
