hi

i got 2 others been hanging around for

awhile.

first one is a lami S-glass SSB1362F(red).

pretty nice blank.a little large on the butt

end,1 inch maybe.seems like a nice popping

rod.says 3-5ozs 20-30lb

the oringinal owner said he bought it in

the 70's

was this a popular blank?what type of fishing was it used for?

second is a fenwick fenglass LB 966(yellow)

i know its a LB taper, but it seems it could

have been used for a light pluggin rod

You have yourself a real treasure there with that 2F S-glass. It's a great plugging rod and possibly THE single best pencil popper blank ever made. Almost the same "whip" as the still-made 2M S-glass, but much more power in the butt section. Fiberglass Lami blanks rated "F" for fast action still have a very parabolic taper.

As far as the Fenwick goes, they were quality blanks. A yellow Fenwick is E-glass and as durable as the yellow Lamis. However, I never liked the fast taper of the LB series. I believe that blank is 8-1/2' and would make a great jetty eel (live or rigged) stick. Probably a nice bucktail rod, too.
