Al,

I got the new thread, cut off the old metallic underwraps and rewrapped them last night. The length of the underwraps is the length of the guide foot plus a ½" on each side. So far, so good.

Now, I'm assuming the starting point of the overwraps will split the difference between the end of the guidefoot and the end of the underwrap. (correct?). Also, I want to add a trim wrap to the overwrap. Can I just make it about 1/8" so that approximately 1/8" of the underwrap sticks out or is it personal preference?

Hope this makes sense to you.

John,

The 1/2-inch beyond the end of the guidefoot is fine. The width of the trim band is strictly up to you. Typically I like to keep my trim bands no more than 4-6 wraps of size A thread.
