Fuji Guides and Durability

Hi Al:

A question here.... Fuji makes a version of their Hardaloy's that is heavy duty. They don't recomend them for greater than 30# class rods. They also make the same series in SIC. How much abuse can these guides take being that they have no shock ring? These are the guides that you recomend for alot of the party boat graphite composite sticks for Blackfish and Codfish so I am thinking that they may be tougher than Fuji thinks they are.

Interestingly enough, my Wally Hynes "War Club" is made with the old Fuji Aluminum oxide casting guides with the luminous ring. A bit heavier, not as smooth, But Bulletproof!

Can you share some wisdom here Al? Afterall, you are the guy that has the tough job of designing and building "Alberto Proof" Tackle biggrin.gif

You ar talking about the Fuji HNSG and the BHNLG guides. I have put them on commercial pinhooker bass chunking rods and they are still going strong after five years. You can easily fish 50# on them. However, like with any ceramic ring guide they do not like to get banged around excessively.
