Any word on Albies?

Have hit the said location three times over the course of the past few weeks and nothing to report on the 'funny fish' front...In fact, other than a small handful of schoolies at dawn, really haven't seen much in the way of any game fish

Over the last three years the Albie season was kicked off by BIG offshore blows (tropical) close enough to the coast to push the Bay Anchovies in. No BIG blows in the forecast may spell a later start but as with Mother Nature...who knows! Just an educated guess on my behalf. LOL!!!

I saw a small school of them tear through a wave, no hookup though, as I was rigged for blues at the time. It was 15 seconds then they were gone. And that wasn't at a location they are known to visit often.

^^^you mean recently? And when you say 'not often known to visit', are you talking about points north of the cape or just not as well known of a spot as other spots, but within the general region where you can find them

not sure if we have discussed this here before but I would say 80% of my albies have come blind casting with ZERO indication that they are in the area.

at a time which I was rigged for bass, sp minnow, mambo minnow etc 50 pound mono leader....

^^^^Absolutely true - one day, I had what wasn't my best day in terms of numbers, but my personal best stretch of making 6 straight casts and catching 5 albies + 1 spanish mac on those casts - there was not a single sign of the fish being there if not for me actually catching them...In fact, I arrived and there was a guy standing around with the rod on his shoulder who told me he didn't see any fish breaking and was going to try a different location (he hadn't made on single cast)...If I followed his lead, who knows what the next spot would've lead to, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been 5 albies and 1 spanish mackerel on 6 casts...I was tossing around small yozuri plugs at this once but no longer productive spot near Falmouth MA

Yup. But mine was a Bonito on a blue and white atom popper. Sure didn't fight like a bluefish.
