I am developing some small cracks in the crystal coat around the guide feet of a rod I finished 2 months ago. The finish went on

very well waited 24 hrs before trying it out.

Have 1 very thin coat on although it covered the threads. Can I add another coat

to it to give it more strengthand stop it cracking more? thanks william 1

Give it a thin coat of Crystal Coat. Wait 48 hours and apply a second thin coat.

Put the rod away for at least a week or more before flexing it. It should be fine.

DId you properly prep the guides?? This is the cause of my epoxy cracking. My last rod, I concentrated on grinding the guide a lot more than I normally do, and so far no cracking on any guides (Whooopie!!!) - even though it's been sed a fair amount of time. Meanwhile, a rod I built last year has had the epoxy crack on each and evry guide, and since it's been a tad chilly the past couple of weeks, the cracking has increased.
