Al,

Today i was on the jetty fishing and i caught a 25 pounder. For me it is my first fish over 20 of the surf. In the process of landing the fish i nicked and scratch the rod a little. I was wondering if i should apply a thin coat of Flexcoat to the scratches to protect the rods condition. Or if you have any better suggestions please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your time and efforts on this matter.

If it's just a scratch you can either apply a thin coat of finish or just apply some paste wax and polish it out.

If it's a nick that went into the graphite fibers it can be a potential problem just waiting to happen. I would wrap the area with size A thread and apply a thin coat of finish.

AL,

They are just scratches on the finish of the rod. But as for applying a thin finish coat to it, is that Flexcoat. or should i just leave it be?
