Boat casting/live bait blank

Hi, Al.

I am looking to build a casting/live bait rod for the boat this spring. I tend to favor glass a little more than graphite for this purpose. I intend to put a 7000 class reel on it. My lure rangle would be that similar to surf lures - 3/4 oz to at least 2 1/2 oz lures, such as large Atom swimmers, Danny plugs, darters, rebels, etc., and also large eels.

I have a blank in mind and it is the Lami BT1083M with a little help from a dremel to trim the tip and possibly the butt to get it be me around the size I'd like - 7.5' - 8'. My question to you is have you used/built this blank for this purpose? I have built this blank as a spinning rod and left it at that size and was very impressed by it's power. I know Seeker also makes a blank (of course I can't remember the number now) in a fast action that felt nice. Do have any other suggestions? I don't mind cutting a rod.

Also, would you suggest the same types of blanks for the same purpose, but spinning w/ a 704 on it?

thx
