Rod wrappers

I have built about 5 rods on my lap, and would like to get at least a hand wrapper.

I don't know if I need a power wrapper or not.

Is the power wrapper only for applying wraps quickly or does it have other uses as well?

I made my wrapper with simple 1x6's. Cost about $10 to make. Cut 3 pieces at about 9" for the upright portion, and then cut one 18" base and another 7" for the outside base. Cut a v in the uprights and cover with self-adhesive felt. Just screw two upright on the ends of the larger base and the other in the center of the samller base and you're done. You may want to get a drying motor and make a base for that too. I just bought a rotisserie motor for $10 and will try it next time. The motor is not necessary just makes things easier. MIKE

Q,

A power wrapper can also shape grips as well as other tasks with the proper accessories.

If you are wrapping only a few rods a year then a hand wrapper is fine. However, I would definitely go for a finishing motor as Mike points out.
