Stuck ferrule

If you use ice, you'll want to place it on the male ferrule section. You can also gently heat the female section a bit with a hot towel or a hair dryer. When you heat it, it should stay cool enough to touch to your lip without burning you.

The other trick is to place the rod behind your knees, hold it in your hands on each side of the ferrule and spread your knees apart, between your hands. Kinda like a homemade gear puller.

Good luck!

Thanks all for your help; I tried heat, cold, behind the knees . . . it just won't budge.

I personally don't need it apart, I was considering selling it and thinking about the shipping issue.

Perhaps it will loosen up roasting in the July sun!

It is gonna get warm again right????

Thanks again.

Rod co. - Loomis as I recall - gave me the advice that always works for me. Surround the stuck joint with ice. Leave there for an hour or more. (Do not apply heat at all.) After joint is really cold, put rubber on your hands - such as rubber gloves - and pull joint straight apart. Do not twist. Works great.
