Removing old guides

Sorry if you have been over this before, but what is the best way to remove old guides from a rod? The rod in question has a pretty heavy coating of glue on the guides. Hey this is my first visit to this forum and I've been on this site since it started! Pretty cool that there are still new things to discover here at SOL!!!

Gilbey,

Welcome to the site.

Use a heat gun to warm the wraps for about 30 seconds. Then carefully cut the wraps on top of the guide foot and peel away the wraps and finish.

Remove the remaining residue of finish by again warming the area and popping it off with your fingernail.
