Am I using the right unit of measure? This is for my cut down salmon/steelhead rod. The tip that is on there now only measures 3.5mm i.d. of the ring and the ones I find are 6 or 8mm. I was looking to pick one up from Cabela's because I was ordering from there anyway. I also measure 2.7mm at the point I'm planning on cutting the rod. The rod has very small lightweight guides near the tip. What am I doing wrong? I even checked mudhole but didn't see what I need there either. confused.gif

The tip tops are measured in 64ths of an inch for the tube size, 2.7mm is around 7.5 64ths roughly. The rings of the tip tops are measured in mm but not the inside of the ring. You measure the frame from the outside of one side to the inside of the frame on the other side. A 3.5mm inside measurement could very easily be a 6 or 7 ring size.
