Guides for wire

I'm thinking of setting up a trolling rod for wire. Probably use once or twice a year pulling a shad rig. Question is what material should the guides be made of?

Thanks, Lou

Traditional: carbaloy/carbide. problem is the rings are spot welded to the frames and one good bump the rings pop off. I had a bad experience with carbide tops a few years ago. 6 out, 6 back popped off within a week. Went to SIC tops.

Hi-Tech: Fuji SIC boat guides or the "new" Silicone Nitrate guides based on a BNLG style frame.

Silicon Nitride II. Just saw a rod the got some serious wire line use last summer. The rod is in horrible condition (nicks, scrapes, weed slime,guts,etc..) Looking at the ceramic, it appears to be good as new.
