I have a 10wt. fly rod with a cork grip that

is to fat for my hands and I need to make it

smaller. The only way I can come up with to do this is to take some sand paper and make it worse. Can someone help with a better idea?

Thanks rayvon

Ray,

If you don't have access to a power wrapping lathe then I would try to sand it down by hand first rough shaping it to the desired diameter and then proceeding through several grits of sandpaper and finish up with 600 grit.

Another option is to find a professional rod builder in your area to take down the grip. It's a relative simply job, just taking a few minutes with the right tools.

If you are located near Orlando I can recommend someone.

Al, I will try to do it by hand with the 600 grit first and see if I can keep it in

uniform. I live 38 miles from Orlando and

have to go there to purchase my tying supplies. If you recomend him I sure would

like to have his phone #. I have another rod

to take down also and they cost to much for

me to be widdeling on. Next winter I want to try and build a 12 wt. custom rod for tarpon.

Al thanks for the help
