Travel Rod or Blank for Peacock Bass

Rate this topic

3 posts in this topic

A friend of mine is looking to either purchase a rod or have a rod made that he can take on the plane when traveling to Central America to fish for Peacock Bass. He is looking for a conventional rod. I don't know much else but I suspect it would be fished from a boat.

Does anyone have some blank or rod suggestions?

Thanks.

Tom

Tom,

Both Rainshadow and Lami make 3-piece travel blanks in the 20-30 lb class for musky and tarpon. You will be casting plugs in heavy cover and these fish are brawlers.

I do not have the exact blank numbers available at home, but I will send you the info tomorrow from the office.

I enjoyed your field report on the jetty stick.

The "Rainshadow" rod blank item numbers are IC747-3, for the 6' 2" model, and IC847-3 for the 7' version. We have seen that most of the Musky & Peacock folks use the 6' 2" 3 piece, and the inshore guys the 7' 3 piece.
