refinishing ?

hello Al, i would like to refinish a rod thats pretty beat up needs to recoated chips, scratches etc, someone suggested flexcoat lite formula 50/50 mixed with a slight amount of acetone? should the expoxy be applied with a brush? i have a drying motor someone also suggested appling the mixure with scotts paper towels ?

I would not recommend thinning Flexcoat Lite with acetone. It will not cure properly and not be very durable over time.

 

Use either Clemens Crystal Coat or U40 Permagloss.

 

First rub down the entire surface with a fine finishing pad and then thoroughly clean the rod to remove any residue.

 

Apply two thin coats following the directions on the label.

 

Let the rod rest for at least a week. Then rub it down again with a fine finishing apd, clean off and apply one more thin coat of finish.

 

Let the rod rest for at least two weeks, longer is better, before flexing the rod in any way.
