GSB1081L Guide Sizes & Spacing

Recovery has to do with the speed at which the rod comes back straight after loading on the cast. the lighter the rod can be kept with lighter guides particularly on the top half to 2/3 , the faster it will recover. This fast recovery gives you good distance when cassting.

I might also point out that Charleston's rod has a 16 SIC tip. I like the 16 tips cause I believe they help the leader knots clear better.

You could get even faster recovery with the concept layouts but I believe the guides used to save the weight using that system are too small for practical surffishing conditions (at least the way I rid up and fish) .

Breezy Kid;

I have a new Shimano Stradic 5000 on the 108 1L

I also have a GSB 120 1L (matches wink.gif ) I use the Stradic 6000 on it. I am going to try my new Sustain 8000 and see how that goes as well.
