Fugi Plate reel seat

i have 1 that i just taped on my heaver ( couldn't decide where i wanted the reel seat to be )seen a couple of others on the beach , no complaints that i have heard .

I have them on about 4 surf rods.

 

Pros - easy assembly of handle

moveable (although I've never moved one once it was on)

light weight

 

Cons - If you don't mount it properly, it is less firm of a mount than a standard seat

 

I've heard people say they can open up, I've never seen it happen.

They don't open up----but they sure do loosen up. When I used them, I had to retighten the sliding latch every 4 or 5 casts.

 

If you don't wrap it tightly, it WILL twist on a good fish. Try wrapping it on with rod wrapping thread, and Flex-Coat it. No way it'll ever twist then.

KR,

 

I've have similar experiences to DJ on some of my older FW rods. It seams like you spend half your time adjusting it. If you have not built the rod yet, a reel seat is definately a better choice that the plate seat.
