Best blank for tossing eels?

Rate this topic

Let's see, looking for an 8' blank to be used on jetties and from the surf. Most likely using braid. Don't want to spend a fortune.

Any suggestions? Would a glass blank be better for braid and graphite better for mono?

Thanks

The Batson 1088 does well as either spinning or conventional. It's actually 8'10" in length and you could probably trim the butt down a bit. I wouldn't trim the tip as you might stiffen it to the point where you cast eels off the hook too often.

All Star makes an 8' blank # 968. I've never tried it but one guy up north who does eels a lot gave it raves.

Some good 8 footers are the Rainshadow 967. The Allstar 965 , loomis 965 , Sabre 967. The PacBay/Sabre 967 is a very nice blank. At 9 feet there are many more to choose from.
