rod length ??

does size matter? seriously, i'm thinking of having one more rod built (i know i know..)

i'm trying to determine if i would rather have a 10 footer or something closer to 12.. it will be for casting 3-4 oz metal mostly... i like the shorter rod idea for weight and the longer for distance..

a more specific question.. would there be any noticeable difference in distance between a rod that was say 10' and one that was 9'10"?

thanks

9" 10 " vs 10 feet would be no significant dif. 10 feet vs 12 feet , assuming you can handle the 12 foot rod (many people really can't) , you would see a big difference in distance.

It's really more to do with wind resistance than weight if both rods are rated roughly the same. The extra two feet might not be significantly heavier but the extra wind resistance will make it much tougher to fish for long periods. If long plugging sessions are what you have planned go with the 10 footer, hands down.
