putting on a grip

From the butt you can. Must remove the reel seat though. You can probably do it with cork, I've read how to fix cork that was damaged in teh center of a grip, but that's not my cup of tea.

You can put foam on from the butt. But I wouldn't put cork. The dia. would be to big once in place. The foam would stretch.

Cork can be done from the rear even if the blank taper is large you simply will have to shim the blank near the reel seat, strips of dry wall tape work very well as the open grid allows the bonding epoxy to get right down to the blank.

 

Tape the edges of the bottom of the reel seat to protect it as the expoxy will ooze out as you put on the cork. You will also need to allow for a butt cap. Rod Bond is a great paste type epoxy to use, you won't get any dripping, it has a very long working time (hours), mixing doesn't have to be perfect, only draw back, takes 24 hours to fully cure.
